this sketch is more about the concept for the image than the execution. I'll be the first to say this particular drawing sucks. hopefully you get what I'm giving, though.
I have been thinking about this for a few years. There's lots of graffiti on the highway going through newfoundland on rock faces that were exposed when the highway was built. None of it is all that impressive, mostly just names of people who are "in love" with other people.
Anyway, I think this would be a neat stencil to do and head across the island with. I lost my chance to learn about stencilling back in Grenfell with cool people who do that kind of stuff. ah well. :/
Today has been quite long. moved back home till end of May. I find it hard to keep motivated here. I pretty much have to completely change the way I view myself and my life to live here and try to care for mom.
I'm not sure how/if I'll be able to update over the next couple of days since we're packing everything up and the tablet will probably not be the last thing packed...
also not sure how well I'll be able to keep up at home with the updates.
Anyway, hopefully this move will go well and things will turn out! enjoy this drawing of me and kenneth moving. we're silly. (disclaimer: this did not actually happen. boxes not big enough. :C )
Might be a rough week ahead, especially drawing-wise. Kenneth is done his exams and we're heading back to the west coast for a while, then he'll be heading on to the apartment without me. I will join him in june.
Watched that Frost/Nixon movie tonight. that was one intense interview...
Luckily I still had a good two year anniversary with Kenneth today. He got me a rose, and we got indian food takeout, and I baked him a Dr. Pepper cake. :)
In honour of the final season/episode of Corner Gas that recently aired, I figured I'd draw Brent Butt, canadian comedian! He's known for his unoffensive humour and reams of wit. Very cool guy. I hear he's writing another show featuring his wife, Nancy Robertson, also a comedian.
I'm glad the Blogger server is in a different time zone than me (or maybe I just need to adjust time zone settings?) because it is seemingly much more forgiving of my late drawing days.
Anyway, one of my ideas yesterday was to do some mini portraits of my favorite CANADIAN celebrities! I get so excited over some of these people and the fact that they give me a twinge of canadian pride is a cool part of that. Anyway, this is Jian Ghomeshi who is the host of a CBC radio show called Q that focusses mainly on musicians, but covers other topics as well. He's actually in the news right now for an interview, but he's been hosting the show for a couple of years now and has had many really great interviews and guest singers. ALSO he was the host of the Canada Day celebrations in London when I was there!
I did this drawing by finding one of his interviews on youtube and pausing it at a good moment to get a screen capture. the cap can be seen here: screen cap.
hope all is well with you guys. :)
PS- should I make this a day of the week thing? like, portrait of famous/infamous person on thursdays? hmmmmmmmmm!
Fail night. I tried to draw a few different things but as you can see it just wasn't happening. ANYway, perhaps those things will make their way into other nights with less inspiration. they were cool things. ): I am sorry. ):
I was going to draw myself doing a couple of different things than this, but I guess when dealing with myself this drawing makes more sense.
ummm I'll leave y'all to figure that out.
I should point out to friends of mine that Kim, artschool friend of mine, has started an artsy blog also: http://preppykimagery.blogspot.com/ . saweeeeet.
Edit: by the by, I'm not this thin anymore! probably for the best, eh? *plays with extra belly* been drawing myself the same way for so long it's hard not to.
Weekflybyfast. Anyway, I just was drawing a blank today. gonna try to do something more intensive tomorrow. My boyfriend loves these little doodle type updates, so I guess it's not all bad. he thinks I should do a small webcomic in this style. maybe? I was thinking about webcomicing anyway. we'll see I guess!
I was busy with other things in Photoshop today, so I just kinda doodled this. Hopefully it will hold over my massive fan base, right?
anyway, I've been looking at photos I took of old drawings in order to prep them for printing and sticking in a portfolio/binder kind of thing. fun fun. my photos arent that great... sigh. Anyway, happy april everybody. nobody pranked me. pffft. poisson d'avril, indeed.
